It's hard to believe we're approaching what will be the 17th playing of the Metropolitan Match Play Championship. Originally contested at Boone Valley Golf Club, the annual event moved to Old Warson Country Club in 2003 and features the top amateurs from the previous years points standings in a match play competition.

On tomorrow's Back Nine Radio Show we're going to discuss the dos and don'ts of keeping your golf statistics. I'll admit, I'm a numbers guy and after each round I'll reflect back on my round and record certain statistics I feel will help me understand where I need to improve. I'll use this information as a way to focus my practice sessions and ultimately to determine a game plan for my next round of golf. Golf is a game of misses, so knowing where you are missing and where you're vulnerable will go a long way towards improving your course management skills.

With the final pairing of the RBC Heritage last weekend comprised of two guys that are anything but the epitome of health and fitness, I've had a lot of clients and readers giving me quite a bit of trouble, some threatening to give up the fitness routines and going the Carl Petterson and Colt Knost plan. Less gym, more Chick-fil-A. Many referencing the injury issues that some of the more well known pro fitness golfers like Tiger woods and Dustin Johnson have had; Dustin with his back and Tiger with his knee, Achilles, and others.

Can you imagine standing 15 yards in front of a tee shot hit by a Professional Golfer? OK, we'll give you padding, facemask and even a stick to try and deflect the golf ball soon to be humming at your head. Of course that would never happen in the sport of Golf, but what about hockey? While it's not a golf ball flying at speeds well above that of a speeding car, it's a hockey puck and the folks at TaylorMade are teaming up with Reebock-CCM to see if they can speed up the puck by virtue of new technology in hockey sticks.
