Jim Hardy's Book - Solid Contact is a great read if you are interested in understanding the golf swing better. As a golf instructor Jim Hardy is one of the best. Among his notable achievements, he is the originator of the "1-plane or 2-plane swing" philosophy that captured the attention of teaching professions when introduced ten years ago. Hardy is the type of teacher who wants the student to know not just the how, but the why and this is the theme of his latest book.

Top seed Skip Berkmeyer needed extra holes to advance out of the first round. Trailing 1 down walking up the 18th hole at Old Warson Country Club, Berkmeyer received a gift from his friend and playing competitor, Jack Eisenbeis. After both players hit their tee shots in the left rough, Eisenbeis proceeded to hit the wrong ball which allowed Berkmeyer to square the match. Berkmeyer would win the match on the first extra hole.
