Jefferson City, MO -- December 21, 2008 --  The 2009 Missouri Golf Association Schedule of Events was introduced this week giving Missouri golfers something to celebrate as the calendar turns on the year that was 2008.

Headlining the 2009 schedule of events is the return of the Missouri Senior Series.  The highly acclaimed seniors only circuit will be increasing it's tournament schedule from 14 to 16 events in 2009.  Missouri's Senior players will tee their season off April 27th at one of the state's premier championship venues, Hickory Hills Country Club, in Springfield, MO.

The Missouri Golf Association Major Championship Schedule also begins with the Seniors.  The Missouri Senior Four Ball Championship heads south in 2009 to Twin Hills Country Club in Joplin, MO.  The Missouri State Amateur Championship goes East to historic, St. Joseph Country Club.  Home to several of the Kansas City area's elite amateur players, St. Joseph Country Club will challenge the top amateurs throughout the state with 36 holes of stroke play competition before trimming the field to 64 and match play competition.

The second of two regular division major championships, the Missouri Stroke Play Championship is the only amateur tournament to feature a 72 hole stroke play format.  Dalhousie Golf Club, home to the 2008 Hieronymus Cup Matches, again will welcome the state's top amateurs with the 2009 Stroke Play Championship.  Although one of the state's newer championship venues, Dalhousie GC has quickly distinguised itself as the southeast's top venue and arguably the state's premier championship home.

The Father - Son Championship has evolved into one of the Association's greatest traditions.  New in 2009 is the introduction of a Professional Division, inviting PGA Members of Missouri Golf Association Clubs the opportunity to compete alongside their father or son.  To accommodate the additional professionals and to turn away fewer amateurs, the MGA is hosting the annual Father - Son Championship over two of the Lake Ozark region's top venues in Porto Cima and Witches Cove.

On August 10 - 11, the Missouri Golf Association welcomes back the state's top high school golfers at the Junior Collegiate Preview Invitational at Osage National Golf Course.  The Preview concludes a busy summer season for the state's junior golfers, featuring a Match Play Championship at Lake Valley G&CC and a Stroke Play Championship at Ozark Ridge / Westwood Hills in Poplar Bluff.
