MISTAKE: One of the biggest differences I see between Tour players and recreational golfers is how they align their bodies and clubfaces to the target. Golfers who mis-aim make one common mistake. This mistake stems from a poor concept. Many players line their bodies to the target first, then ground the clubhead. What this does is point their club way right of the target. That usually translates into adjusting the swing path more to the left in order to pull the ball back to the target. This over-the-top move creates a swipe across the ball, and contact near the toe of the club. The resulting miscues can run the gamut of pulls, pull-slices and slices.

FIX:  Correct Aim and Alignment begins with a good routine. Start behind the ball ( instead of from the side), visualize the target line from behind, and when you get to the ball be sure to line your clubface up FIRST, aiming it at the target....and then set your feet next. If this is done correctly, you should see the target with a simple glance. If your aiming incorrectly, you'll have to look over your lead shoulder to see it. Once you are aimed straight, now you can swing along the target line, producing solid contact and straighter shots.
