Three Tied for Lead at 24th Normandie Amateur Championship

The 24th playing of the Normandie Amateur presented by Dent Wizard has brought the best amateurs in the Greater St. Louis area out to play.  2011 Walker Cup Captain, Jim Holtgrieve is in the field and in contention after posting a 1-under par 70 trailing the trio at the top who posted a 2-under first round score.

Two of the three at the top of the leaderboard have been here before in Skip Berkmeyer and Darren Lundgren.  Both players have had success at the Normandie Amateur Championship and regular contenders for this championship.  Devlin Keenoy, a senior at Edwardsville High School, the third member of this group at 2 under par, will find himself in unfamiliar territory when this threesome tees of together on Sunday afternoon at Normandie Golf Course. 

Lundren's 2-under, 69 featured 5 birdies and 3 bogeys and inward nine of 32.  Keenoy made 4 birdies and a double bogey on the difficult par 4, 11th hole.  Berkmeyer made 4 birdies and 2 bogeys to earn a spot in the final group of the final round. 

Joining Holtgrieve among those in pursuit of the first round leaders are Tim Cochran, Ryan Weinhaus and John Anderson.  Cochran, finishing his Junior season at the University of Missouri-St. Louis recovered from a double bogey on the 2nd hole of the day to post an even par, 71.  Weinhaus, a senior at Missouri State University, made 3 birdies, 1 eagle, 3 bogeys and a double bogey to match Cochran's even par total.  John Anderson of Norwood Hills Country Club is the final member of this trio at even par, 2 shots back of the leaders. 

A total of 15 players are within four shots of the lead heading into Sunday's final round of the 24th Normandie Amateur Championship.
