The adage, there are horses for courses, is never more obvious than when an event is held at the historic, Forest Park Golf Course. Whether its the annual Publinx in May or the City Championship in July it seems many of the same names are regularly competing for the title.

St. Louis - June 7 - The 5th Metropolitan Open Championship is set to tee off tomorrow at the Country Club of St. Albans featuring arguably the strongest field in St. Louis golf history; absent the PGA Tour coming to town.

It's OK to teach yourself. In the modern age of video analysis and Tiger's obvious understanding of the golf swing, he can definitely diagnosis his own faults and implement the necessary corrections. The time for this is on the range after a round or during a dedicated practice session when you aren't concerned about where the golf ball ends up. An hour before you are putting the ball in the air in competition, it's all about where the ball is going and nothing about fixing your golf swing.

The 24th playing of the Normandie Amateur presented by Dent Wizard has brought the best amateurs in the Greater St. Louis area out to play. 2011 Walker Cup Captain, Jim Holtgrieve is in the field and in contention after posting a 1-under par 70 trailing the trio at the top who posted a 2-under first round score.
