It was the Cats versus the Shockers in the all college player final. Schulte and Smell are both team mates at K-State have been playing the championship, finished runner-up in 2006, but never had won the championship.

The WGA has been a leader in American golf since 1899 when representatives of 11 Chicago-area golf clubs signed the original charter to conduct golf championships and coordinate tournament events at member clubs.
