| 2009 Recap Champions- (Male Overall) Ryan Zech (12-13) Alec Palen (Female Overall) Sun Young Jung Host Venue of 2009 Westwood Hills CC & Ozark Ridge Golf Course in Poplar Bluff, MO
Story Leaders of round 1 could not hold on to the lead. Ryan Zech is 2009 Junior Amateur Champion after carding the low round of the tournament with an outstanding 65. His two day total score ended with five under par, 137. Runner up, Chance Holden needed to make a ten footer on 18 green to put the championship into a playoff. He just missed the putt to secure his spot as 2009 Junior Amateur runner up. Chance Holden aslo tied with 15 year old Ben Crancer, of Kirkwood. Ben Crancer not only was runner up of the whole tournament he also won his 14-15 year old division by an astonishing 7 strokes over competitor William Byrne who shot a two day total of 145. In Ben's second round he had an eagle on hole 14 and ended with a birdie. Third place finisher in the 14-15 was Zach Tate with a 146. Local golfer, Trenton Hillis received sixth place overall, with a solid two day total of one under par. The 2009 Junior Amateur proved to have a strong field with third place finisher Taylor Cox of Columbia carding a 67 to put him at three under par for the tournament. Taylor Cox started and ended with birdies in round 2. Junior Amateur championship ahd a total of 358 birdies. The conditions stayed very hot and little to no wind.
2009 was the first year for females to compete in our Junior Amatuer. We would like to congratulate all the young females for playing in our first every female Junior Amateur.

Junior Amateur Facts
27th MGA Junior Amateur Championship July 6-7, 2010 Paradise Pointe Golf Complex Smithville, Missouri
WHO CAN PLAY - Entries are open to male and female golfers ages 12-18 years of age. Male and female golfers will be competing in their own divisions. Participants that have competed on the college level college are not eligible.
ENTRIES – Entrants shall apply on MGA forms. A $70 entry fee must be paid by every player . The entry deadline is June 18th. The entry fee includes a practice round the day before the Championship and the Championship rounds.
REFUNDS - Entry fees are not refundable.
AGE DIVISIONS - 12-13, 14-15 & 16-18. The 14-15 & 16-18 will compete together for the overall championship.
SCHEDULE - Sunday - July 4 Practice round all day or Monday - July 5 Practice round until 9:30 a.m. Tuesday - July 6 First round - 18 holes Wednesday - July 7 Second round - 18 holes
COURSES - Boys 12-13 year olds - Outlaw Girls 12-18 year olds - Outlaw Boys 14-18 year olds - Posse
PRIZES: Awards and prizes are in compliance with the MSHSAA guidelines.
Caddies are allowed in this event. Players are not allowed to use carts.
