Story
Leaders of round 1 could not hold on to the lead.  Ryan Zech is 2009 Junior Amateur Champion after carding the low round of the tournament with an outstanding 65.  His two day total score ended with five under par, 137.  Runner up, Chance Holden needed to make a ten footer on 18 green to put the championship into a playoff.  He just missed the putt to secure his spot as 2009 Junior Amateur runner up.  Chance Holden aslo tied with 15 year old Ben Crancer, of Kirkwood.  Ben Crancer not only was runner up of the whole tournament he also won his 14-15 year old division by an astonishing 7 strokes over competitor William Byrne who shot a two day total of 145.  In Ben's second round he had an eagle on hole 14 and ended with a birdie.  Third place finisher in the 14-15 was Zach Tate with a 146.  Local golfer, Trenton Hillis received sixth place overall, with a solid two day total of one under par.  The 2009 Junior Amateur proved to have a strong field with third place finisher Taylor Cox of Columbia carding a 67 to put him at three under par for the tournament.  Taylor Cox started and ended with birdies in round 2.  Junior Amateur championship ahd a total of 358 birdies.  The conditions stayed very hot and little to no wind.

2009 was the first year for females to compete in our Junior Amatuer.  We would like to congratulate all the young females for playing in our first every female Junior Amateur.
