2010 New point format to qualify for Cup Match Teams:
There will be a change in the way the points are calculated in 2010 for the East and West Cup Match Teams. Players will compete against each other from the same Team in each of the Cup Point events.
Example: If a player from the West side finishes in third place he will receive the third place points. He will then receive points based on where he finishes against the other West side players.
So in this example, if the players from the East finish in first and second place then the player from the West gets the first place points also for finishing first on his team.
The MGA Points system is used to award the Player of the Year. The player with the most points at the end of the year is the Player of the Year. This format will not change.
Cup Match Teams: 20 players represent the East side and 20 players represent the West side of Missouri. 8 of the 20 are chosen from the top 2010 point leaders. Then 8 players are chosen from the top senior point leaders. The remaining 4 are chosen by the Captain, 2 from the championship side and 2 from the senior division.
To be elgible a player may not be a college golfer.

East Repeats As Hieronymus Cup Match Champions By Ceanne Kressig
Through all the rain MGA was still able to hold the 2009 Hieronymus Cup Matches but not without a few changes. When all the rain was hitting Jefferson City it was looking to be impossible to play at Jefferson City Country Club. The Hieronymus Cup Matches were then moved to Norwood Hills Country Club in St. Louis, MO.
The players and captains chose the slate for Four Ball matches to be played at 8 am on Saturday morning. As the morning Four Ball matches concluded it left the West side 4 points behind the East. All the senior matches were dominated by the East side. Not one Senior team from the West side won a Four Ball match in the morning. The afternoon alternate shot matches were key to the West in trying to capture the cup. As the air cooled both teams battled to the end. West were turning in winning matches trying to close the gap on the East. Gerald Siemons teamed up with BJ Curry to win over Darrel Huisinga and David Lucks. Then Antonio Serrano and Mark Korell won their match. A key match was Scott Hovis and Wayne Fredrick winning over Skip Berkmeyer and Darren Lundgren. Norwood Hills is Berkmeyer’s home course giving him an extra edge, but Hovis and Fredrick have never lost an alternate shot match. They proved to be a tough team once again. Hovis and Fredrick won 4 & 3. At the end of the day 1 East led with 11.5 points while West had 8.5.
Through all the strategizing the single matches were chosen for Sunday morning. Early on West started making a run at the cup. Brad Nurski played local Berkmeyer. After the front nine was finished Nurski was one up. Nurski was three under for the day and Berkmeyer was 2 under, demonstrating to both be on top of their game. Nurski led most of the match until the last few holes. Going into hole 17 Berkmeyer was one up. Nurski got up and down for par on hole 18 and Berkmeyer three putted for bogie to then lose the hole and halve the match. The next four matches were all won by the West. It was now anyone’s cup.
Haskell and Hovis representing the West both had big wins. Haskell and Hovis both won their matches 5 & 4. Towards the end of the day the matches still being played were close. Three key matches for both sides ended it a tie giving both sides a half point. The best the West could do was tie. Captain Jim Holtgrieve was 1 up going into hole 15 against Westener BJ Curry. As they approached 17 green, Holtgrieve had put his drive behind trees and was unable to make a good shot, consequently losing the hole. The match then moved to hole 18 where both Curry and Holtgrieve hit great drives both making pars. The match ended in a tie returning the trophy back to the East side. The final result was East 21 points to West's 19 points.
Congratulations to the East Team and all who participated!
