Wednesday began the first 18 of 72 holes in the Missouri Stroke Play Championship at Meadow Lake Acres Country Club in New Bloomfield, Missouri. One hundred and fourty-one of the states finest Amateur golfers teed it up to begin what they hope will be the first of four full rounds of golf. "Four rounds of pure stroke play is a unique format for these players and provides them with a different challenge over three days," commended MGA Executive Director, Scott Hovis.

The Final Four. It means so many things to so many people. In the basketball hot bed of Kansas, Kentucky, Indiana and North Carolina the final four means their basketball teams have realized the expectations of their very avid fan base. But for 8 golfers still competing on Saturday at WingHaven Country Club, the final four meant they were one match away from competing for the most presitgous title in the state of Missouri.

To still be playing golf on Saturday of a Missouri Amateur Championship means a lot. For one, it represents the fact you've outlasted over a hundred and twenty plus players who put the ball in the air on Tuesday and Wednesday. It means you are one of 8 players remaining in contention to win the most coveted championship in the state of Missouri for amateur golf. It means you are playing well and have a realistic chance to create arguably your best golf memory ever as a competitive player.

A new champion will be crowned thanks in large part to one of WingHaven's very own, Kyle Jasper, who knocked of the defending champion Connor McHenry in what turned out to be Friday afternoon's feature match. McHenry and Jasper made the 7,230 yard Nicklaus Design look like a pitch and putt as they exchanged birdies throughout the entire match (View hole by hole results here).
