The affable baseball great with the ridiculous stockpile of witticisms -- aka Yogisms -- will carry out many of the duties that a host would, gestures that would come naturally anyway at the 51st edition of the five-round PGA Tour pro-am, which tees off Jan. 20 on four La Quinta courses.

As the snow starts to drop here in St. Louis, I have mixed emotions of watching the SBS Championship as it's about 80 degrees with gentle tradewinds making me wonder why I am not in Maui.

The United State Golf Association in hosting the 2009 USGA Men's State Team Championship at St. Albans Country Club. Darren Lundgren, Skip Berkmeyer and Brian Haskell are representing the state of Missouri against a field of nationally ranked amateur golfers.

Skip Berkmeyer birdied the 18th hole to beat Gene Elliot, 1 up, and win the 85th Annual Crump Memorial Tournament Sunday at Pine Valley Golf Club.

It's US Women's Amateur week on The Back Nine Radio show with the semifinal matches taking place on Saturday and 36 hole final on Sunday at Old Warson Country Club.

The Missouri Fore State Team has been chosen from players with top scores at the 2009 Missouri Women's Amateur Championship and past playing performance in Missouri Women's Golf Association Championships. The 14th Fore State Championship will be held at Auburn Hills Golf Course in Wichita, KS with teams representing Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas and Arkansas. Oklahoma won last year's championship tying Missouri for six overall titles. (Missouri's last win was 2006). The tournament is a team match play format and will be played during August 10-11th with a practice round on August 9th.

Every golfer dreams about it. The chance to play side by side with the greatest golfers in the world. While very few of us get the opportunity to tee it up week to week on the PGA Tour, there is an event taking place in October that can provide a glimpse of what it is like to play with the big boys.
