Springfield, MO - Twin Oaks CC - Last year it was Jace Long of the University of MIssouri who stole the show during the stroke play portion of the Missouri Amateur Championship scorching St. Joseph Country Club.  This year, it's a different Tiger on top with William Harrold tied for the lead with Connor McHenry after a first round 66 at Twin Oaks Country Club.

Harrold, a senior to be at the University of Missouri, tied his collegiate low round of 66 which he shot in the 3rd round of the George Washington Invitational in route to his best individual finish of the season, 2nd place.

A native of England, Harrold got off to a fast start to his round with early birdies at 1 and 2.  "The first hole is a tight landing spot, so it was nice get a good one early", said Harrold.  "I hit a great wedge that left myself a nice uphill putt."  The 2nd hole is much more difficult, long par 3 at Twin Oaks Country Club which will likely play as one of the most difficult holes on the course.  "The 2nd hole is a good par 3, and played about 175 yards, slightly into the wind.  I hit a 7-iron a little thin to be honest, but it worked out perfect for a tap in birdie", said Harrold.

Twin Oaks is defined by tall trees and tight fairways.  The rough, which hasn't been cut since last Wednesday, will definitely play a factor as the week progresses.  When asked about Twin Oaks Country Club, Harrold commented, "It's important to hit fairways.  If you can hit fairways, the approach shots are much easier, especially on the par 5's."

Harrold isn't a stranger to making a deep run in this championship.  Just last year Harrold advanced to the sweet 16 before losing to eventual champion, Skip Berkmeyer.  "Last year I played well and I hope to do better this year," said Harrold.  "The match play part of this championship is really fun because there really aren't many chances to play this format in tournaments so I'm looking forward to it."
