Tower Tee Pros Gaus and Lotz Take Central IL Classic Wins

Bob Gaus and Steve Lotz, both of Tower Tee GC in St. Louis bested a field of Gateway PGA Professionals to take the wins in the Mari de Villa Central IL Classic at Panther Creek CC in Springfield, IL.

Gaus, 2008 GPGA Player of the Year, carded a 4-under par 68 bogey free round to edge JC Anderson of O'Fallon, MO, who finished one stroke back at 69 in the Regular Division.  Anderson made 5 birdies in his round, but bogeys at the 14th and 18th hole kept him from tying Gaus.  Rounding out the top 5 were Ryan Roy of Wentzville, MO, with a 70, Craig Liddle of Ballwin, MO, at 71, and Brian Fogt from Wildwood, MO, and Derek James of Jacksonville, IL, who both ended up at even par 72 on the tough 7021 yard layout.

Steve Lotz, owner of the Tower Tee GC, took top honors in the Senior Division, with a 2-under par 70.  Lotz had 2 birdies and an eagle 3 on the 10th hole to win the title by 3 shots over runner-up Mike Brengard of Edwardsville, IL.  Brad Hulett of O'Fallon, MO, came in 3rd with a 75 and Gateway PGA President John Hayes was a shot back at 76.

The first Major of the 2009 season is the GPGA Match Play Championship next week, May 18th-20th, at Annbriar GC in Waterloo, IL.
