Four of the states finest players qualified for the Match Play portion of the event at the United States Mid-Amateur Championship at Milwaukee Country Club last week. Ted Moloney of Clayton, Brian Haskell and Brad Nurski of St. Joseph and Skip Berkmeyer of St. Louis all advanced through 36-holes of stroke play qualifying. Berkemeyer, having won three titles already in Missouri this summer finished as the medalist for the stroke play with rouds of 67 - 71 for a 138 total while Moloney, Haskell and Nurski all made it just inside the cut number of 147.
The saying goes that once you get into match play, anything can happen, but unfortunately the stars were not alligned for any of the Missouri players. Nurski and Haskell failed to advance past their first matches, while Berkmeyer and Moloney won just one match each, exiting in the second round. Each is expected to be in the field at The Kansas City Country Club on September 30th for the Missouri Mid-Amateur Championship.
