Smell and Schulte Win Heart
Jason Schulte, 20 of Kansas City, and Kyle Smell, 19 of Overland Park won the 2008 Heart of America Four-Ball 1 up over Brad Boan and Zac Potter. It was the Cats versus the Shockers in the all college player final. Schulte and Smell are both team mates at K-State have been playing the championship, finished runner-up in 2006, but never had won the championship. Boan and Potter also teammates but for Wichita State. In the 36-hole final the teams combined for over 20 birdies. “It was unreal,” stated Smell, “at one point in the match you knew that if you didn’t make birdie you would lose the hole.” Sure enough it was a birdie feast and over the course of five holes that made the difference. Smell and Schulte took turns making birdies on the second eighteen over a 6 hole spread, which proved to be the difference. ...click here for results
