About the Gateway PGA Foundation

The Gateway PGA Foundation is a 501 (c) 3 organization and was created in 2007 by the Gateway PGA, one of the fourty-one geographical areas that comprise the Professional Golfers Association of America 

MISSION STATEMENT
The Gateway PGA Foundation strives to grow the game of golf while recognizing those who have contributed to its rich history.  The path of the Foundation will be made visible by a commitment to engaging our youth through financial and emotional support.  Particular emphasis will be placed on those who have fewer advantages in our communities.  To achieve its goals, the Foundation will use its expertise in the game of golf and seek additional support from the sporting community as well as fellow sports associations.  The Gateway PGA Foundation will leave a mark in our neighborhoods and a lasting imprint on all those who are touched.

Board Structure
The Gateway PGA Foundation Board will consist of six individuals that serve at the discretion of the Gateway Section of the PGA.  The Board will meet on a quarterly basis and as required, to achieve the goals set forth in the mission statement and to discuss the programs, goals, and committees of the Foundation.The Gateway PGA Foundation Board will establish various committees to assist in its work and will appoint a Chairperson from the Board to oversee the work of each committee.  Each committee will be comprised of a Gateway PGA Professional or individual in the community that has a desire and skill set to achieve the assigned tasks for the Foundation.  Each committee will assemble a team to assist in achieving the assigned tasks for the Foundation.   

  

Communication

The Gateway PGA Foundation Board will strive to keep the membership of the Gateway PGA abreast of information pertinent to the operation of the Foundation through direct mail and Email.  The Board will be a motivating factor for the membership to become actively involved in the Foundation programs.

 

Goals

 

  1. The Gateway PGA Foundation will reach out and connect with the underprivileged youth in our communities by introducing the game of golf.
  2. The Gateway PGA Foundation will mentor the youth through programs facilitated by Gateway Section PGA golf professionals. 
  3. The Gateway PGA Foundation will pursue the necessary fund raising opportunities to sustain the established programs.
  4. The Gateway PGA Foundation will provide advanced educational opportunities through our Scholarship Program.
  5. The Gateway PGA Foundation will begin efforts to establish our Golf House.

 
Goal Achievement

We will achieve our goals by establishing and executing the following programs:

 

1.      Corporate Sponsorship, Partnerships, and Donations

2.      In-School Program

a.       Imagine Academy of Environmental Science and Math

b.      Innovative Concepts Academy

3.      Promote and fund the transition into “The First Tee” and GPGA Junior Program

4.      Summer Activity Program

a.        Memberships to public and semi-private Gateway Section facilities

b.      Lesson opportunities with Gateway Section PGA golf professionals

c.       Caddy and Employment opportunities at Gateway Section facilities

5.      Golf House

    1. Display the history of golf in the Gateway Section PGA
    2. Recognize the Gateway Section PGA Hall of Fame
    3. Indoor teaching and practice facility
    4. Educational room and / or shelter for the underprivileged youth
