Most definitely the highlight of this week's golf stories took place in Hershey, Pennsylvania where St. Louis' Ellen Port captured her 5th USGA Championship. Port, competing in her first Women's Senior Amateur, won five holes in a row beginning on the 10th to defeat Jane Fitzgerald 4&3. Not only does Ellen now hold the Senior Amateur title she is also going to be defending her Women's US Mid Amateur title in a few weeks.

If you are like me, you're always looking for a way to improve your golf game. At the same time, I'm very careful to filter who I listen to and / or what products I trust to truly help me get better.

This charity event is the main fundraiser supporting GHA activities. GHA hosts conferences, funds research, supports political advocacy and the bleeding disorder community and their families. This tournament helps fund Camp Notaclotamongus each summer, a summer camp strictly for kids affected by bleeding disorders. The camp teaches self-infusion of factor products and provides safe, physical activities.

John was clearly a fan of Davis Love III's pick of Dustin Johnson and Brandt Snedeker, while a bit unsure of Jim Furyk finding his way onto the team. Based on the past several weeks, Johnson and Snedeker played their way onto this team while Furyk's inclusion is as much about his leadership, experience and record at last year's President's Cup.

The other day I had a few hours in the morning to kill so I went up to WingHaven Country Club to practice a bit. I've been hitting the golf ball extremely well since adopting the swing methodologies of the legendary golf instructor, Jimmy Ballard. Always wanting to practice with a purpose, I set out two objectives for this practice session.

Last week on The Back Nine Radio Show the topic of difficult golf holes came up and we started to debate which holes we perceive to be the hardest to play. We agreed a difficult hole was one which you felt making par was hard to do on a regular basis.

The Back Nine has set out on a journey to identify the toughest golf holes in St. Louis. Thanks to the help of Curt Rohe of the Metropolitan Amateur Golf Association, we've assembled the beginning of a list of the area's most difficult holes. This ranking will be modified as new data is incorporated and new golf courses are included.
