After seemingly endless delays, and those of all varieties, the U.S. Amateur is working towards getting back on schedule. Today, the first round of matches in match play will finish up, with the round of 32 going out starting at 11:00 am. Many big names have already advanced to the round of 32, but number one seed and stroke play medalist Gregor Main was defeated in the round of 64 by Rhode Island native Bobby Leupold.

Ryan Penfield made it back-to-back wire-to-wire Champions of the Metropolitan Amateur. After an opening round 2-under 69 on Thursday at St. Louis CC, Penfield added rounds of 70 and 75 to capture the title with a 1-over 214 total. His name will be added to the Jim Tom Blair Trophy along with other area greats such as Holtgrieve, Bliss and his final round playing partner Skip Berkmeyer.

The U.S. Golf Association has announced pairings and tee times for stroke-play qualifying at the U.S. Amateur, to be played Aug. 22-28 at the par-72, 7,760-yard Erin Hills Golf Club and par-70, 6,622-yard Blue Mound Golf and Country Club in Erin, Wis

August 7, 2011 - Adam Scott captured in his 8th win on the PGA Tour and first World Golf Championships Event at the Bridgestone Invitational. Scott essentially did everything well. He drove it long, hit it straight, putted it well and arguably most impressively, he handled the chaos surrounding having Tiger Woods' former caddy on his bag.
