Bellerive Country Club has hosted it's share of major championships. As recently as last year, the world's top players converged on the Robert Trent Jones design to contest the 2008 BMW Championship. This week, the area's top amateur golfers will walk the fairways and greens of one of the St. Louis metro's most treasured layouts.

It's US Women's Amateur week on The Back Nine Radio show with the semifinal matches taking place on Saturday and 36 hole final on Sunday at Old Warson Country Club.

The Missouri Fore State Team has been chosen from players with top scores at the 2009 Missouri Women's Amateur Championship and past playing performance in Missouri Women's Golf Association Championships. The 14th Fore State Championship will be held at Auburn Hills Golf Course in Wichita, KS with teams representing Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas and Arkansas. Oklahoma won last year's championship tying Missouri for six overall titles. (Missouri's last win was 2006). The tournament is a team match play format and will be played during August 10-11th with a practice round on August 9th.

Every golfer dreams about it. The chance to play side by side with the greatest golfers in the world. While very few of us get the opportunity to tee it up week to week on the PGA Tour, there is an event taking place in October that can provide a glimpse of what it is like to play with the big boys.

July 12, 2009 - Jefferson City, MO - Golf Channel's, Rich Lerner, will headline the Missouri Golf Association's Father-Son Championship July 26-28. Up to 140 two person Father-Son tandems will compete in the 36-hole event over two premier championship golf courses, The Club at Porto Cima and Witches Cove.

You may have heard someone passionate about the game of golf say it's a game of a lifetime and if you doubted those very words, just look at Tom Watson this week at the age of 59. Thru 54 holes at the Open Championship at Turnberry, five time British Open Champion Tom Watson is reminding us all again that golf is truly a game of a lifetime.

July 27 - The Country Club of The Legends - Zach Barlow and Scott Langley of the University of Illinois Men's Golf team share the first round lead at the 2009 United States Amateur Qualifying being played at The Country Club of the Legends in Eureka, MO. Andrew Floyd of Milan, TN finishes out the trio at 2-under par.
