Don Bliss named 2010 Senior Player of the Year
Mr. Bliss, St Louis, a long time strong supporter of the Missouri Golf Association receives the honor of Senior Player of the Year after many opportunities to showcase his great ability to play the game.
This is not Don's first time with these honors. He was named Player of the Year in 1996 in the Championship Division and this is his 5th time as Senior Player of the Year. All of that and more before the young age of 60!
This year he finished first in the Senior Division at the Ozark and the Stewart Invitationals, he qualified to the round of 64 in the Missouri Amateur, he tied for third at the Phil Cotton along side BJ Curry, (2010 Senior Amateur Champion), placed 39th in the MGA Stroke Play Championship, placed 6th at the Dawson, tied for 9th in the MGA Senior Amateur and finished 2nd behind Dee Sanders in the Senior Amateur division at the Missouri Open held this past week at the Club at Old Hawthorne, Columbia.
As we write this article Don is packing for his (4th) trip to the U.S. Senior Amateur in Orlando! (Don qualified as an alternate and just got the call to play) The site for the 2010 U.S. Amateur is Lake Nona Golf & Country Club in Orlando, Fla. The dates are Oct. 2-7, 2010. Other seniors in the top five on the Senior Player of the Year list include Gerald Siemons, Steve Groom, BJ Curry and Andy Smith. All of which are playing for the West Team in the Hieronymus Cup Matches October 2 and 3 at Jefferson City CC. To see the full Player of the Year stats click here.
Congratulations to all of you. Thank you all very much for your continued support of the MGA and we look forward to seeing you next summer.
