 The MGA started the third Senior Series season with the first two of sixteen Senior Series events at Hickory Hills CC and Twin Oaks CC in Springfield.  The Senior Series Tour has 224 members strong. The 2010 SS winners in each flight are:  Net Flights, Steve Slaughter 64 and under and Bob Coleman 65 and over. The Open Flight winners are, Don Kuehn 64 and under and Rocky Walther 65 and over.

  The MGA 16th Annual Senior Four Ball Championship was held at Mission Hills CC on May 11-12. The Net flight players were able to complete 18 holes in this event but due to the rain the Gross flight was not able to compete. The teams of Bill Jonas/Nick Michalski and Richard Simonett/Mark Lerum tied for first place in the 50-59 Net flight. Ken Brown/Richard Gelner won in the 60 and over Net flight.

  The MGA 103rd Missouri Amateur Championship was held at Twin Oaks CC in Springfield on June 22-27. The field of 156 players consisted of the top qualifiers in the state including past Amateur Champions. Brad Nurski, St Joseph squared off against Matt Miller, Eldon and finished 2 up in match play to become the 2010 Amateur Champion.

 The MGA 13th Stroke Play Championship was held at Norwood Hills CC in St Louis on July 21-23. Ryan Marks, Warrensburg finished the tournament with a four round score of 66-70-70-69—275 over Skip Berkmeyer, St Louis 276.

 

The MGA 5th Annual Father Son Championship was held at The Club of Porto Cima, Sunrise Beach on July 26-27. Buddy and Bobby Godwin of Poplar Bluff won in the Professional Flight. The Century Flight (combined ages of 100 or more) winning team was Robert and Brian Haskell, St Joseph. Super Senior (one player 70 or older) winning team was Jim and Mike Patton, Springfield. The leader in the Championship flight was the father son team of  Brad Gershon, Kansas City and Bruce Gershon of Overland Park, KS.

  

The MGA 21st Annual Four Ball Championship was held at Payne Stewart Golf Club, Branson on August 21-22. The team of William Harrold and Stuart Ballingall, Columbia 67-63—130 won in a two hole playoff against Kory Bowman, Springfield and Jamie Schmitt, Grain Valley. Gale Hackman and John Parker, Jefferson City won the Net division with a two day handicap score of 66-57 — 123.

 

The MGA 16th Annual Mid Amateur Championship was held at The National Golf Club of Kansas City on September 13-14.  Harry Roberts, St. Joseph, finished in the lead with rounds of 71-72 —143 besting runner-up and past two year winner Brian Haskell, St Joseph with a two day total of 145.

 

The MGA 21st Annual Senior Amateur Championship was held at Dalhousie Golf Club, Cape Girardeau on September 21-22. BJ Curry, Sedalia finished in the lead with 68-71—139 5 under par over Don Kuehn, Kansas City and Gerald Siemons, Jefferson City who both finished tied for second with a two day total of 145.

 

The final match of the season is the Hieronymus Cup Matches that were held at Jefferson City CC. The top players from the East and West sides of the state compete against each other over two days. West team wins the 2010 Hieronymus Cup 24.5 to East 15.5. The overall total of the matches stands that East leads the yearly matches 9-8.


The Hieronymus Amateur Junior Series consists of  one day events set up around the state. In 2010 the MGA held 11 series events followed by the HAJS Championship event at Tanglewood Golf Course in Fulton on August 2nd.  These events are open to all male and female golfers from 10 to 18 years old.  Here are the champions in each flight at the Championship event:

 

Boys 10-11 Jeff Simmons, Gallatin

Boys 12-13 Gabe Trowbridge, Jefferson City

Boys 14-15 Ian Barnes, Licking, Boys 16-18 Mark Loeber, Moberly

Girls 10-11 Haleigh Berrey, Kirksville, Girls 14-15 Taylor Black, Warrensburg and Girls 16-18 Alyson Mongler, Moberly.

 

 The 10th MGA Junior Match Play Championship was held at John Daly’s Murder Rock GC in Branson on June 9-18, 2010. Jacob Fair of Monett finished the 36 hole final in the lead 1 up over David Bailey of  Springfield.  Fair grinded until the end as he was never up on Bailey until the 36th hole.

 


The 27th MGA Junior Amateur Championship was held at Paradise Pointe in Smithville on June 6 and 7th.  This event is open to all male and female golfers from 12 to 18 years old. Here are the champions in each flight.

KEN LANNING JUNIOR GOLF TOURNAMENT

2010 was the third consecutive year the MGA conducted this long standing event. Ken Lanning founded this tournament as an opportunity for juniors long before there were statewide events for juniors. The proceeds for this event go back to the Ken Lanning Scholarship Fund. Male and Female golfers from 5 to 18 years old compete in this event at Oak Meadow CC in Rolla.


The 4th annual MGA Junior Collegiate event was held at Twin Hills CC in Joplin on August 5th & 6th.
This event was developed for an opportunity for junior players going into their freshman through senior year of high school to put their skills and ability on center stage against other premium players from Missouri and surrounding states. The 2010 champion was Ryan Buerk of Blue Springs with a 36 hole round of 72—75 3 over par.
