Winner of five British Open Championships.  Champion of the 1982 United States Open.  Master of two Green Jackets.  Four-time Missouri Amateur Champion.  One of the greatest players of all time joined The Back Nine Radio Show on Saturday, May 15th to share some of the wisdom which he includes in his new 2 DVD Instructional series, "Lessons of a Lifetime".

Watson has endured the highs and lows of championship golf, spanning a competitive career that began on the courses of Kansas City and tournaments of the Kansas, Kansas City and Missouri Golf Association's.  Tested as a teenager against the very best of the Missouri Golf Association, Watson learned what it felt like to win and lose.  It was that losing feeling he didn't care for very much.

Unfortunately for Watson he would experience his share of losing and close calls on golf's grandest stage during the early part of his professional career.  His first major championship was the 1972 U.S. Open at Pebble Beach, the very one where Jack Nicklaus sealed his victory with a perfectly struck 1-iron on the par, 17th hole.  It wasn't until Watson observed the games greatest player and decided to change his approach, preferring a fade like the one Nicklaus used so masterfully, en route to a breakout year in 1977 winning two major championships.  One of those majors in 1977 was the Battle under the Sun at Turnberry against Nicklaus himself.

It was nearly two decades later when Watson would again challenge himself to make a change.  After several disappointing years on the PGA Tour, Watson was searching to find the edge that once propelled him to being the best player in the world.  He found his secret in someone else's golf swing.  He challenged his way of thinking, his way of swinging the golf club.  As a result he would soon be challenging the best players in the world for the most prestigious titles in golf.  To learn more about Watson's Secret, visit http://www.tomwatson.com and purchase his 2 DVD Instructional Series.  It's a great addition to your golf library and the perfect Father's Day gift.

During Watson's interview with Dustin Ashby, Dave Barnett and Adam Frillman on The Back Nine the 8-time major champion and 4-time Missouri Amateur champion talked about his days playing amateur golf along the likes of Jim Jackson, Bill Stewart, Bob Cochran and other greats in the history of Missouri Amateur golf.  Watson won four Missouri Amateur Championships over a period of five years, Scott Bess winning the 1969 State Amateur to break up a possible five consecutive State Amateur Titles.
