The new book, Learning Golf with Manuel, is an eyewitness account of golf lessons and clinics given by one of the most highly regarded teachers in the game of golf, Manuel de la Torre.  Manuel has been inducted into the World Golf Teachers Hall of Fame (2005) and the PGA of America Hall of Fame (2006) and has been teaching at Milwaukee Country Club since 1951.  Manuel’s notable students include Carol Mann, Martha Nause, Sheri Steinhauer (LPGA Tour winners) and Tommy Aaron (Masters Champion).

The author of Learning Golf with Manuel is a PGA Club Professional, John Hayes, who has been taking notes while observing Manuel de la Torre teach and conduct golf clinics since 1983.  John Hayes is the Head Golf Professional at Forest Hills Country Club in St. Louis, Missouri.  This book is not like the traditional golf instruction books which go from grip to set up to the swing.  It has 106 short lessons/stories that begin with a quote from de la Torre which was said during an actual golf lesson or group clinic.  The author then explains how this lesson relates to the principles that Manuel uses to help his students understand and improve at the game of golf.  Manuel’s principles have not changed but his ways to get the golfer to understand and perform a very simple motion could fill volumes.
