Annual Father-Son Tournament Expands Field
to invite PGA Professionals

Jefferson City, MO – September 18, 2008 - Following three years of a sold out field and rave reviews about the event and its venue, the Missouri Golf Association is expanding the field and adding another championship golf course to the rotation for their annual Father Son Championship.  The Jack Nicklaus Signature, The Club at Porto Cima, has hosted the Missouri Golf Association Father – Son Championship since 2006 and will continue as the event’s host property.  The Lodge of the Four Seasons, Witches Cove, has been added to accommodate a field of up to 140 teams in 2009, up from the 80 team maximum in years past.  “Our waiting list for this event kept growing each year and it just made sense to expand the field and include two championship golf properties for our players to enjoy,” commented Executive Director, Scott Hovis.

In addition to a second host venue, the Missouri Golf Association is excited to invite PGA Members and their Fathers or Son to compete in a new division in 2009.  “We excited to welcome the PGA Members in our region to compete in an MGA event for the first time.  We work closely with these PGA Members throughout the year and we’re happy to now provide them a chance to enjoy this special event with their father or son”, remarked Hovis.

The 2009 Father / Son Championship will be played July 27 – 28.  The event includes a practice round on July 26 followed by one round of golf on each of the two host courses.  A welcome banquet at the Lodge of the Four Seasons will again be hosted for participants.  In 2008, Missouri Tigers Broadcaster, Mike Kelly, addressed the group of Fathers and Sons.  The championship features a variety of flights for players to compete in, including the Century Flight for Father/Son teams whose combined age is 100 or more.
