Severiano Ballesteros' brain tumor is cancerous and he will undergo another operation to relieve pressure caused by swelling and bleeding that have recently developed, according to the Associated Press. The remaining parts of the malignant tumor, located in a very deep part of the brain, will be removed in Friday's procedure. Based on an analysis of cells already moved, the tumor is classified as an oligoastrocytoma, a type that affects "cells that cover and protect the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord," the hospital said.

In 2007 the SeeMore Putter Company was re-launched as it introduced a new line of milled putters with the only goal being to use its patented and proven RifleScope Technology (RST) alignment system to create the world's finest putters. Immediately the SeeMore putting system gained worldwide recognition, with an amazing Masters Victory in April high-lighting the benefits of RST. Zach Johnson's 2007 Masters victory will now be forever remembered along with Payne Stewart's dramatic US Open victory in 1999 as two of the greatest final round putting performances in history, both having relied upon SeeMore putters and the SeeMore putting system.

The Directors Cup Matches are a goodwill competition between 8-man teams from the Kansas, Iowa and Nebraska Golf Associations. They began in 2000 and are staged every other year alternating host associations. The home team has won every match.

The format is match play consisting of foursome and four-ball matches on the first day and singles matches on the second day. There is a round-robin format that allows for three teams to compete in this match play format. Each match has three points available (one point for the front nine match, a second point for the back nine match and a final point for the full match result.)

No. 3 in Golfweek, No. 1 in GolfStat and now winners of three consecutive tournaments this fall. The Illinois Men's Golf program is big time and it started with small, as in Coach Mike Small. It was Small's team in 1988 that last accomplished the feat of winning three consecutive tournaments. And here he is again with a younger group, of equally talented golfers, once again putting the Fighting Illini on the golfing map.
