My oldest son who is 7 years old this year, participated in an organized Junior Golf program for the very first time. In preparing for his golf season, I assembled a decent youth set of golf clubs for him. As I was assembling this set of clubs, it dawned on me that my son will likely never learn to hit a 2-iron in his life. The proliferation of hybrids and lofted fairway metals has all but eliminated the need to learn to hit a long iron.
