Fighting Illini Lead at US Amateur Qualifying

July 27 - The Country Club of The Legends - Zach Barlow and Scott Langley of the University of Illinois Men's Golf team share the first round lead at the 2009 United States Amateur Qualifying being played at The Country Club of the Legends in Eureka, MO. Andrew Floyd of Milan, TN finishes out the trio at 2-under par.
Two players from the fifty three that teed it up to begin action on Monday will qualify for the 2009 United States Amateur being played at Southern Hills Country Club, August 24-30. While the field is smaller than is historically the case in St. Louis, it is a star studded group full of well accomplished amateurs vying for their chance at the National Championship.
A total of five players broke par in the first round. Andrew Funk and Tom Schreiner being the two to join the three leaders in red numbers. Two shots back are Ryan Weinhaus of Missouri State University and William Harrold of the University of Missouri. Skip Berkmeyer, Tim Cochran, Andy Hogenmiller and Todd Obergoenner sit three shots back after 1-over par, 71's.
