Las Vegas, Nevada (March 22, 2011)--Tiger Woods was released by Las Vegas' GolfOdds.com
as a prohibitive favorite to win the PGA Tour's Arnold Palmer
Invitational. He is 8/1 to win while Dustin Johnson is 15/1 followed by
Phil Mickelson, Hunter Mahan, and Graeme McDowell, who are each at 20/1.
History gives an advantage to Tiger--he has won here six times, most
recently in 2009--but his play of late would make it difficult to lay
cash on him to win, especially at such a low number. Read on for more
official PGA Tour betting odds.
But, as usual, the official Power Rankings
at PGATour.com differ from the Vegas line. Tiger is 9th in the rankings
while Johnson leads those. Mickelson is not in the top 10 of the
rankings. "(Tiger) did not enter last year, thus forgoing the
opportunity for three straight wins here," writes Rob Bolton at
PGATour.com "He has six titles in 14 starts at Bay Hill. Coming off
season-low 66 at Doral, where he tied for 10th and ranked T4 in greens
hit." In the individual matchups, Tiger is -175 vs. Mickelson +155. Most
likely, Tiger remains a public betting favorite so his number has to
stay fairly low to minimize the damage should he finally break through
and win for the first time in more than a year.

Last week's champ, Gary Woodland, makes a rare appearance in the power
rankings, coming in at 7th while he is a 50/1 shot in the betting odds.
Chris Couch and Las Vegas Golf Region resident Kevin Na are also in the
top of the Power Rankings but stand at 50/1 according to the Las Vegas
betting experts.
Johnson is a -125 favorite vs. Mahan +105 while Jim Furyk (30/1) is
even vs. Rose -120. Johnson and Mickelson work with Butch Harmon, who
operates his school at Las Vegas golf course Rio Secco Golf Club. Other Las Vegas golfers and their odds are Ryan Moore (50/1) and Chad Campbell (80/1). The field is 7/2.
