Park Ridge, Ill. -
Illinois junior Scott Langley
has been named the Big Ten Golfer of the Week. Langley fired
consecutive rounds of 68 en route to a runner-up finish at the LA
Classics Invitational held at the 7,141-yard par-72 Oakbourne Club in
Lafayette, La., Monday and Tuesday.
The All-American carded a 73 in the final round of competition
to tally a seven-under 209 score, just one stroke shy of the top spot,
in leading his team to a second-place finish. This is the fourth career
Big Ten Golfer of the Week award for Langley, who earned three during
his sophomore campaign in 2009.
Langley's honor makes it two in a row from Illinois as junior Chris DeForest captured Big Ten Golfer of the Week last week in helping the Illini win the Tinervin Cup.
