We are not sure if Nick Goeke and Madeline Conlin know each other; however, they have two distinct things in common. The two juniors both play out of Mid Rivers Golf Links. On June 23, they had another common characteristic. Each came from behind to earn titles at MAGA's 10th Junior Amateur Championship, held June 22-23 at Aberdeen Golf Club.
In the Girls' Championship, Conlin (right) started Round 2 five shots back of lead, but stayed consistent over the two rounds to finish with rounds of 82-83 for a 165 total. Round 1 leader Gina Dellacamera was unable to match her first-round success in Round 2 and finished three shots back of Conlin at 168. With the victory, Conlin received the Barbara A. Berkmeyer Trophy and MAGA Gold Medal for her efforts.
Goeke (left), who posted a 1-under par 71 in Round 1, came from three shots off the pace set by first-round leader Tim Price, added a final-round 74 to finish at 1-over 145 for the Championship. Goeke received the James M. Holtgrieve Trophy and MAGA Gold Medal for the Championship.
